For hanging sump units, or direct-feed units used without a flowmeter, even a gravity-feed water supply can be used successfully. Many customers gravity-feed rainwater or storage tank water into the unit using a simple quarter-turn valve.

Yes — replacement parts are fully available for Turbo XE units, from complete assemblies down to individual hardware components.
We have been supporting these units for over 40 years, and there is no minimum parts order. Customers regularly order anything from motors, fan blades, guards, and controls down to individual washers, lock washers, nuts, and bolts.

For freight shipments: Yes.
Due to Canada’s updated CARM import system, customers receiving LTL freight shipments must provide a customs broker so the broker information can be listed on the bill of lading and shipping documentation.
This typically applies to larger units such as hanging sump models that ship by freight.
For smaller package shipments sent by UPS, UPS will act as the customs broker for the shipment. Duties, taxes, and brokerage-related fees are generally billed to the recipient.
Once a broker is provided for freight shipments, delivery to Canada is typically smooth and straightforward.
In most cases, no broker needs to be sourced by the customer.
International shipments are typically sent using FedEx Express Air, which provides door-to-door international service and includes customs brokerage handling as part of the shipment process.
This makes international orders outside of Canada especially straightforward.
Any import duties, taxes, tariffs, or country-specific fees are still the responsibility of the recipient according to local regulations.
For most destinations, this provides a simple door-to-door delivery experience without requiring the customer to arrange a separate customs broker.
These units use Jaybird’s centrifugal nozzle-free atomization system, which converts liquid into a fine fog using a high-speed rotating atomizer. Unlike conventional nozzle systems, there are no small openings to clog.

For customers within the continental United States, we make the evaluation process as simple as possible. Many customers choose to test a unit for factors such as fog quality, airflow strength, and operating sound level before making a larger purchasing decision.
If the unit is returned promptly in clean condition using the original packaging materials and cartons, we often work with customers to minimize or waive restocking fees whenever possible.
The main customer cost in these situations is typically the outbound and return shipping charges.
Simply contact us before returning the equipment so we can provide return authorization and help ensure the return process goes smoothly.
For general routine cleaning, use mild household or industrial cleaners such as Simple Green, Windex, or standard kitchen and bathroom cleaners.
These are safe for normal dirt, residue, and surface buildup on the housing, guards, and sump areas.
Do not use petroleum-based cleaners such as paint thinner, lacquer thinner, acetone, or solvent-based products, as these can damage plastics, finishes, and screen printing.
For sump units, after cleaning the inside of the tank, we recommend spraying the interior with a diluted Clorox / bleach spray solution to help slow algae and slime regrowth during periods of standing water.
To restore shine and help protect polyethylene surfaces, Armor All may be applied after cleaning to help preserve and restore the appearance of the plastic housing.
Yes — Turbo XE units operate very well with hard water.
This is one of the major advantages of Jaybird’s centrifugal nozzle-free atomization design. Unlike high-pressure nozzle systems, hard water does not clog small nozzles or orifices.
Over time, hard water may leave light mineral fallout or calcium dust residue after the fog evaporates.
In applications such as orchid growing, greenhouse propagation, or sensitive product storage, this may appear as a light white dusting on plants or nearby surfaces.
If calcium fallout is a concern, many customers choose to use RO or softened water to eliminate mineral residue.
Minor calcium buildup can usually be removed using CLR.
Spray affected areas thoroughly, allow the CLR to soak for approximately 5 minutes, then repeat as needed until the buildup softens.
Once softened, deposits can be removed using a Scotch-Brite pad or similar non-metal abrasive pad.
For heavy buildup after years of service, remove the front safety guard, fan blade, and pin venturi assembly and soak the components in approximately 1 to 1.25 inches of CLR for 1–2 hours.
This process typically restores performance to near-new condition.
Yes — stationary mounted Turbo XE units can be used outdoors.
All plastic and rubber components are UV-stabilized for outdoor exposure and long-term durability, and all electrical connections utilize liquid-tight fittings for reliable outdoor service.
For continuous-duty outdoor installations, the housing should be securely supported in addition to the standard hanging mount to protect against strong wind gusts and vibration stress.
Oscillator-mounted units should not be used outdoors in windy conditions. The limitation is not weather exposure — the oscillator assembly is built for harsh environments and performs extremely well in demanding indoor applications such as concrete curing, mushroom growing, and other high-humidity environments.
The issue is wind load. Even light outdoor wind gusts can push against the fan housing and place repeated stress on the oscillator gear train. Over time, this back-and-forth force can cause premature mechanical wear, component failure, or damage to the mounting assembly.
For outdoor applications, a stationary-mounted fan is strongly recommended. In most cases, the best coverage is achieved by mounting the unit upwind and directing the fog pattern crosswind so the natural airflow carries the fog downrange.
Turbo XE hanging sump units include a convenient 1/2-inch MPT threaded drain plug located at the bottom of the sump tank.
For service or routine cleaning, simply remove the drain plug and allow the tank to fully drain.
After draining, the sump can be cleaned through the top opening as needed before returning the unit to service.
